SEAL OF BILITERACY

WE are so incredibly proud of our students for working hard and doing their best on the AVANT testing.

This test is very important since, for some, it is the last chance to determine if they have earned their
Seal of Bi-literacy before graduating. If earned, they get a certificate that certifies what they can do with both English and Spanish for universities and/or employers. Many also take this test to see their progress in their language journey which can also earn them the Global Seal. Others take it to qualify to enter into the AP Spanish Language and Culture course for the following year.

Thank you to all for encouraging our students to be even more proficient in another world language.
It will certainly serve them well as they use this here and abroad.

BASH - SUNSET IN THE SERENGETI

In her remarkable 30-year tenure at Central Catholic High School, Mrs. Dillon has left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students, faculty, and staff. Her unwavering commitment to education and her genuine passion for nurturing young minds have shaped generations of students who carry her lessons with them far beyond the classroom.

True to her New York roots, Mrs. Dillon’s teaching style has always been direct, honest, and no-nonsense—qualities that pushed her students to rise to their fullest potential. She believed in setting high standards and creating an environment where students were not only encouraged to excel but also to embrace challenges and grow from them. Her tough love approach was tempered by a deep care for her students, always ensuring they knew she was invested in their success.

Mrs. Dillon has been a constant presence in the Central Catholic community, a symbol of strength, opportunity, and promise. Much like the Statue of Liberty stands as a beacon of hope for New Yorkers, Mrs. Dillon has been a guiding force for our school, embodying the values of resilience, leadership, and commitment. Her legacy is one that will be felt for generations to come, shaping the culture of our school and the lives of all who have had the privilege of working with her.

In honor of her many years of dedication and service to Central Catholic, we are excited to share the creation of Dillon Yards, a new courtyard located outside the CCHS Library. This space will serve as a place for students to gather, share ideas, collaborate, and build a sense of community, much like Mrs. Dillon has done throughout her career. The courtyard will stand as a lasting tribute to her contributions, and it will provide a space where future students can reflect on the values she instilled in them.

Thank you for joining us for BASH 2025 - Sunset in the Serengeti and for your generous contributions toward Dillon Yards! And thank you to our surprise guest, Matt Henderson for serenading Mrs. Dillon with a beautiful rendition of New York, New York and One For My Baby!
The wonderful design for our Dillon Yards.
