Fine Arts Department

Our high school Fine Arts program is designed to nurture and develop students' artistic talents through a comprehensive and progressive curriculum. Starting with ART I, students focus on building their visual literacy skills through foundational practices in drawing and painting. This introductory course emphasizes the elements and principles of design, encouraging students to experiment with various techniques and mediums to enhance their observational and creative abilities.

In ART II, students advance their skill sets by delving deeper into drawing and painting. This intermediate course challenges students to refine their techniques, explore more complex subject matter, and develop a personal style. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking and the creative process, pushing students to produce more sophisticated and expressive works.
ART III is tailored for students who are ready to compile a comprehensive portfolio of their work. Throughout the year, students create a diverse body of artwork that showcases their growth and proficiency in various mediums and styles. This course is essential for those considering post-secondary education in the arts, as it prepares them to present a cohesive and professional portfolio.
For students seeking advanced study, our program offers AP 2D Art and Design, where students engage in rigorous coursework aimed at developing their conceptual and technical skills at a college level. Mixed Media and Design introduces students to a variety of materials and techniques, encouraging experimentation and innovation in their artistic practice. Additionally, the Yearbook course offers a unique opportunity for students to apply their artistic talents in a collaborative environment, focusing on design, photography, and storytelling to document the school year.

Overall, our Fine Arts program is committed to fostering a creative and supportive environment where students can explore their artistic potential, develop critical skills, and prepare our next generation of problem solvers and innovators.
