SISTER IRENE LIBRARY

Central Catholic High School's Sister Irene Library was named after Sister Mary Irene Kleinhanz, C.S.C.
Sister Mary Irene Kleinhanz, C.S.C. was born in Los Angeles, CA in 1922 and entered the convent following her graduation from Conaty High School. A strong advocate for Catholic education, Sister Irene later joined Father John Glynn as the first coprincipals of Central Catholic High School in 1966. She served our school until 1971 and has been remembered for her sharp wit and sense of humor. In honor of her dedication to CCHS, our library was named the Sister Irene Library in 1990.
The Library is open from 7:00am-3:30pm.
The library is run by our Assistant Librarian,
Kathryn 'Miss Kate' Hegarty.

Miss Kate received her Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Public History. She is currently undertaking Masters studies at Stockholm University in Environmental Science with an emphasis in using Fiber Arts (specifically embroidery) to transform people's view of the environment.

She has 14 years experience working in education and 8 years experience working in libraries. She has worked in various educational environments, such as: a charter school, public & private schools, and at a US Army base.
