Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA)

A beautiful opportunity for the 2023-2024 school year opened up for staff, students, and parents/guardians in the way of OCIA classes available on campus for the very first time. The inaugural group of 12 began their faith formation journey taught by the ever gracious Deacon Jose Reyes of St. Stanislaus Church.

OCIA is an acronym for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (formerly RCIA). Through this process, adults (those over the age of seven with the use of reason) who express interest in becoming Catholic are welcomed into a special community within the parish to learn about the teachings of Jesus and his Church, to have their questions answered, learn about the new life in Christ offered by baptism, and prepare for the reception of the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil.*

Upcoming Events

Central Catholic's inaugural group, which ultimately consisted of 3 staff members and 9 students, spent a day each week learning about all aspects of the Catholic faith. There was also the occasion for reflection at a day retreat in Oakdale that encompassed all churches in the Diocese of Stockton. This extraordinary opportunity to participate in OCIA will be available again for the 2024/2025 school year. It is open to staff, students, and parents/guardians who wish to participate.
