The Mark Gallo Health and Fitness Center symbolizes a long-held tradition: naming important sites not just for donors, but for students who lost their lives far too early. The center got its start with a more-than-generous donation from the Mark Stephen Gallo Memorial Trust, started by his family. Mark was a 16-year-old junior at Central Catholic when he died from a rare blood disease. He was an easy-going and happy person who would help anyone who needed it and loved playing for Coach Mike Glines, according to his mother, the late Marie Gallo. She adds that “he left a hole in our family and a lot of happy and good memories.” Given Mark’s legacy of helping others, the Center is an appropriate memorial to remember his life.
The Mark Gallo Health and Fitness Center is a beautiful facility with a lobby that can fully open onto the 1,100 seat gym, two classrooms, a commercial kitchen, offices, storage rooms and the John C. Bosio Training Center as well as the Van Nes Tennis Courts. John C. Bosio graduated from Central Catholic in 1985 and Gerry and Michael Van Nes in 1970 and 1971. Both families have been long-time supporters of Central Catholic and donated generously to this project.
While these facilities are being enjoyed by our students, friends and family, guests and opponents and others in the community, WE have approximately $465,000 left to finish paying for this incredible facility.
