21st Century Learning Center

21st Century Learning Center

From our humble beginnings in 1966, the Sister Irene Library has served many students over the decades and has been lovingly cared for ever since. WE are incredibly excited to expand our technological offerings to students here in the 21st Century Learning Center at Central Catholic.

WE would like to share with you the place WE started from and the amazing things WE have planned for our students' future, now and in the years to come!
Our goal is to raise all of the remaining funds for our 21st Century Learning Center by the end of February, which will give our contractor the go-ahead to start the demolition the day school lets out in May. This would hopefully allow us time to complete the project by the start of the new school year.

WE are reaching out to everyone - including you - to not only bring you up to speed, but to also invite you to consider a donation to this great academic project. These are exciting times and WE appreciate your consideration!
The library is run by our Assistant Librarian,
Kathryn 'Miss Kate' Hegarty.

Miss Kate received her Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Public History from Goddard College. She is currently undertaking Masters studies at Stockholm University in Environmental Science.

She has 14 years experience working in education and 8 years experience working in libraries. She has worked in various educational environments, such as: a charter school, public & private schools, and at a US Army base.
It is an exciting prospect to embark on this new path of learning and growth where students can find community, be safe, and flourish. The heart of our campus will remain a place for reading and research, but will also be a space for creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Things to look forward to within the newly named Sister Irene 21st Century Learning Center will include: Three study/break out rooms complete with full-screen TVs for projects and presentations; more seating to accommodate students; access to physical books as well as digital materials; comfy nooks for reading engagement; tables and customizable furniture to allow for improved group collaboration  or studying singularly; and a new outdoor space named after our beloved Mrs. Dillon!
