Visual Arts Center

Our Visual Arts program is being led by one of our very own - Mr. T.J. Glines, from the class of 2001. Mr. Glines has brought a unique experience and passion back into our program, motivating and encouraging a strong following into the visual arts. Drawing, Painting, 3-D visualization, and Graphic Design are a part of our comprehensive approach and this year WE are thrilled to be introducing AP Visual Art to our curriculum!

The Visual Arts Center was the primary focus of BASH 2024’s Fund-A-Need campaign. In addition to receiving proceeds from the event, the Visual Arts Center project was also fortunate enough to have a number of generous donors outside of BASH. Though there is still much work to be done and a little more to fundraise, it is safe to say that the arts program is in capable hands and has a bright future.

Visual Arts Center write-up by Gianni Adamo, '25.
The Raider's Arrow, June 28, 2024,. The Newspaper of Central Catholic High School
Mr. TJ Glines is an alumnus of Central Catholic High School's Class of '01.

Mr. Glines had the following to say about the planning stages and the design for the classroom: “I personally consulted with numerous students to gather their input on the ideal design and functionality of this room. We took all of their feedback into consideration when designing the space. Key factors included ample natural and proper lighting, a larger space to create a studio environment, concrete floors, adequate storage for supplies, additional sinks, a gallery display wall for student work, and upgraded classroom technology, such as 3D printers, Apple workstations, and Adobe Creative Cloud for design and video editing.”

Interview conducted and written by Gianni Adamo, '25.
It is our sincere hope that this room is one where students feel safe to explore different art styles, experience kind critiques of their work, and take these skills out into the wider world to share what they have learned.

The Visual Arts Center benefits students in many ways, such as:

* Mental Health (finding positive & safe ways of expressing one's emotions).
* Knowledge (education on information needed for artistic and creative careers).
* Technical Skills (becoming skilled in multiple artistic movements and styles).

WE appreciate anyone's help. The following areas have been established to recognize donors which will be proudly displayed in the Visual Art Center.

$10,000 + - Michelangelo
$5,000 to $9,999 - Rembrandt
$2,500 to $4,999 - Pablo Picasso
$1,000 to $2,499 - Leonardo da Vinci
$500 to $999 - Claude Monet
$250 to $499 - Vincent van Gogh
